Youth Coordinator
United Way of Addison County (UWAC) is looking for a high school student who is passionate about the community in which they live. Do you want to make a difference in your school, town, or state? This could be the perfect job for you! Our Youth Coordinators represent each of the three Addison County public high schools and support the UWAC mission. You will work primarily with the Director of Advocacy and the Public Health and Advocacy Coordinator to support the work of the Addison County Substance Use & Prevention Coalition. You will also serve as a representative for youth through public health initiatives in Addison County and across the state. The Youth Coordinator Position has flexible hours with the ability to set a schedule that best works for you.
This position will be responsible for:
- Championing and supporting youth prevention-based program(s), writing blogs, creating social media posts, and developing public health-themed activities for youth
- Sharing data at local and state events
- Attending trainings and seeking optional trainings that enhance and maintain current/trending knowledge of substance use prevention and public health initiatives
- Advocating for the youth in the community
- Providing a youth voice to community data, emerging needs, issues, trends, best practices, and current events
- Representing UWAC at various related community coalitions, meetings, and events
Qualifications
- Lives in Addison County and attends Mt. Abraham Union High School (Vergennes UHS and Middlebury UHS positions are currently filled)
- Interest in learning about public health/substance use prevention
- Ability to work remotely (computer provided) and also 4-15 hrs/week in the office during summer months
- Comfort with Instagram and Facebook
- Interested in writing short blogs
- Proficiency with Google applications
- Must be at least 15 years of age, or 14 with parental permission
- Incoming freshman, sophomore or junior in high school
Compensation
This is a part-time position, 4 - 15 hours/week based in UWAC’s Middlebury, VT office and requires occasional travel throughout Addison County. Travel outside of Vermont for training opportunities are available. Hourly salary range is $13.50.
